Every case we build is tested to the same standard the retail brands buy to — before it leaves the line, not after.

Tested to QB/T 2155-2018
QB/T 2155-2018 (Travelling case and trolley bag) is the Chinese industry standard for travel cases and bags, issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is the standard the domestic retail market tests against, and the one export buyers reference when they want a comparable test report from a Chinese factory.
The standard does not test a case as one object. It breaks it into 19 individual tests, each defined by its own method standard, each with its own pass criteria. We run the battery on the platform you are buying, and you get the results with the samples.

Items 11–15 matter most to retail compliance; items 6–10 and 16–19 are the ones that decide whether a platform survives a season.
Before any test
Every sample is conditioned at 18–25 °C for at least one hour, unloaded, before a single test starts. Illuminance in the test area is at least 750 lx. It is the least glamorous number on this page and the one that decides whether the rest of them mean anything.
Specified test load
The load a case is filled to before the mechanical tests. Excludes the weight of the case itself.
| Case length | Specified load |
|---|---|
| ≤ 455 mm (18 in) | 8 kg |
| 480–535 mm (19–21 in) | 12 kg |
| 560–610 mm (22–24 in) | 14 kg |
| 635–710 mm (25–28 in) | 16 kg |
| 735–785 mm (29–31 in) | 20 kg |
| ≥ 810 mm (32 in) | 24 kg |
Drop test
QB/T 2921-2007 · drop performance
The case is loaded, raised, and released. It falls freely onto a steel impact plane. What we look at afterwards is not the shell — it is everything the shell is supposed to protect.
| Faces | Release platform set so the bottom of the sample is 900 mm above the impact plane — all six faces dropped once each |
|---|---|
| Corners and edges | Platform reset to 600 mm — all twelve edges and all eight corners dropped once each |
| Load | Loaded to the specification under test |
| Conditioning | 18–25 °C, ≥1 h, unloaded |
| Specified load | See the load table above |
| Pass criteria | No cracking or deformation of the case body, no collapse of the shell, opening and closing function normal |
What we inspect after
Cracks or deformation in the case body
Wheels: deformation, loosening, freedom of rotation
Wheel axles and wheel brackets: deformation or fracture
Fixtures and connectors: loosening or cracking
Locks: loosening, ease of opening
Measured: maximum gap at the case opening (mm, 2 dp) and maximum handle pull force (N)
Drum (tumble) test
QB/T 4116 · drum impact
A loaded case is put inside a rotating drum lined with obstacles. It is tumbled, not dropped once — every corner of the case meets an obstacle repeatedly, which is what a baggage handling system actually does.
| Drum diameter / depth | ¢72 in / 48 in |
|---|---|
| Rotation speed | 1.62 rpm |
| Obstacles | three sets of 60° obstacles |
| Maximum specimen | 1000 × 700 × 400 mm |
| Cycles | 20 revolutions |
| Drum setup | Metal drum, cones/obstacles not installed |
| Not applicable | All-metal hard cases are excluded from the drum test |
| Pass criteria | No cracking of the case body, the opening or the internal frame; dents are permitted |
shell cracking or deformation at corners and edges; wheel and bracket integrity; handle and lock function after tumbling.
Oscillation shock test
QB/T 2922-2018 · oscillation shock
The case is loaded, lifted by the handle or by the fully extended telescopic handle, and then dropped within a fixed stroke. Springs absorb and release the force, so the handle, the shell and the seam take repeated shock rather than a single impact.
| Machine capability | 2,500 |
|---|---|
| Impact rate | 30 impacts per minute |
| Stroke | 4 in |
| Impact height | 8 in |
| Strap fixture mass | 1.35 ± 0.05 kg |
| Fixing material | Cowhide split suede, 1.5–2.0 mm thick, 100 ± 5 mm wide |
| Specified load | See the load table above |
| Handle cycles (specified) | Top handle — soft case 450; top handle — hard case 350; side handle 350 |
| Telescopic handle cycles (specified) | Case length ≤ 610 mm → 600; case length > 610 mm → 400 |
This is the test that finds a weak handle rivet or a seam that was stitched one row too few. It is the most common failure on a cheap platform, and the cheapest one to design out.
Wheel abrasion test
QB/T 2917-2007 · travelling wheel abrasion
Four wheels, a set load, and a rotating cement roller. The case runs a fixed distance and we measure how much wheel is gone afterwards.
| Test roller | Cement roller, diameter 2,196 mm, length 120 mm, mix sand : cement = 3 : 2 |
|---|---|
| Test belt | 610 mm length; 430 mm wide × 20 mm thick |
| Measurement | Wheel diameter before and after, measured with a 0.02 mm vernier caliper |
A cement roller is not a smooth drum. It removes material the way a real pavement does, which is why a wheel that passes on a smooth rig can still fail in service.
The travelling test (QB/T 2920) sets the distance and speed; the wheel abrasion rig measures how much wheel is left after it. Ask us for the wheel grade and the distance your platform is specified to, and we will run it on your case.
Telescopic handle fatigue
QB/T 2919-2018 · handle fatigue
The handle is locked into the test machine and cycled in and out to its full travel, over and over, while a force recorder logs what it takes to move it.
| Stroke | The handle’s maximum extended length |
|---|---|
| Cycles | 1,000 / 1,500 / 2,000 / 2,500 / 3,000 (to the specification under test) |
| Pause | 5 min every 1,000 cycles |
| Recorded | Cycle count; maximum pull and push force |
| Checked | Handle deformation, joint loosening, lock switch function |
| Cycles (specified) | 5,000 open/close cycles |
Where the testing happens
Our own lab runs the mechanical tests on the platform — drum, drop, oscillation shock and wheel abrasion rigs sit on our floor, so a problem is found on the line the same day it appears rather than three weeks later in a report.
For a full 19-item QB/T 2155-2018 report — the one retail platforms and marketplace compliance teams ask for — samples go to a CNAS- and CMA-accredited third-party laboratory. Tell us your destination market and we will tell you which report you need and how long it takes.

What this means for your order
The pass criteria are the standard’s, not ours. You can hold us to a number that exists outside this factory.
In-house mechanical rigs mean a bad rivet, a short seam or a soft wheel is caught on the line, not in your returns.
Test results travel with the samples, so your own compliance team has something to file.
If you bring your own PC grade, wheels or locks, the test regime does not change.

Tell us the platform and the destination market. We will send the test results we hold for it and tell you which third-party report your market requires.
The rest of the battery
1) Hard-shell static pressure
An empty hard case is laid flat and weights are stacked evenly over the face, holding the test area 20 mm in from each of the four sides.
| Case length 535–660 mm | (40 ± 0.5) kg |
|---|---|
| Case length 685–835 mm | (60 ± 0.5) kg |

Specified values shown on this page are the requirement values of the current Chinese luggage standard set: QB/T 2155-2018 (Travelling case and trolley bag) together with its method standards (QB/T 2918, 2919, 2920, 2921, 2917, 4116). The load table, pressure, impact, cycle and duration values are those published in T/ZZB 0021-2023 (Travelling case and trolley bag), the Zhejiang provincial luggage standard drafted by the Pinghu Luggage & Bag Industry Association with the region’s luggage manufacturers. Where a value is not specified in the standard, we have left it out rather than quote a figure we cannot trace.
